The Joy of Writing a Great Cookbook
Sometimes, a book comes along right when you need it.
I’ve been working on a cookbook proposal for a contest this summer, and I got my hands on The Joy of Writing a Great Cookbook: How to Share Your Passion for Cooking from Idea to Published Book to Marketing It Like a Bestseller just in time to use all of its tips to polish up my submission.
If you’re trying to break into the cookbook publishing world, this book is a must have- not only because there aren’t that many cookbook publishing guides out there, but also because it’s written by a real cookbook publishing expert with more than 20 years in the field.
This guide covers building your platform, crafting a proposal, the nitty gritty of writing a cookbook, and how to sell it through social media, traditional media, and book tours. It also includes information on self-publishing.
This book is staying put right on my shelf for a long time to come! I’ll let you know when I’ve become a famous author because of The Joy of Writing a Great Cookbook.

My favorite cookbook would have to be Maangchi’s Real Korean Cooking, A complete course on Korean cuisine for the home cook by the YouTube star. ๐
Katie
I have not attempted Korean cooking yet, but I’ve had some Korean food around town and enjoyed it! I should look into that. ๐

I would love to write a cookbook on showcasing everyday family meals with a little gourmet flair!

Donna Currie’s awesome!

I have so many cookbooks that are my favorites at various times during they year, but I think I have to admit that the one I go back to over and over is Ina Garten’s Back to Basics. I love the elegance and simplicity in the ingredients and descriptions! And I’m pretty sure if I wrote a cookbook, it would have to be called something like “Mess in the Kitchen”, because that’s inevitably how I cook. But that’s what makes it fun–making a mess, a great meal, and fun memories. :o)
Katie
I like your idea for “Mess in the Kitchen”! I gotta check out that Ina Garten book, too.

I have several favorite cookbooks including the one my grandmother gave me but currently it is The Gluten Free Asian Kitchen – I primarily live on Asian food anyway and her recipes are awesome.
Someday I do hope to write a gluten free and allergy friendly cookbook after I receive my RD.

Woo hoo! The book has arrived, and I know what I’ll be reading this weekend. Thanks so much!
(Can I write a book called … Shut Up and Eat It? That’s the inevitable answer to ‘what’s for dinner’ )
