Chicago Hot Dog Potato Chip Nachos
How do you make your summer holidays memorable? It’s easy to think of Thanksgiving or Christmas as pull-out-all-the-stops occasions, but summer seems to imply a more laid back approach.
What if I told you that you could have a laid back, yet totally awesome approach to summer entertaining? You can. I’ve devised a wild new recipe just for that purpose.
It all starts with Oscar Mayer hot dogs from Walmart. With no artificial preservatives, no nitrates, no fillers, these hot dogs are the crowd-pleasers you’ll want on your table.
If you haven’t heard of a Chicago style hot dog (you may have been living under a rock, for all I know), here’s the scoop. A Chicago style hot dog is a hot dog topped with yellow mustard, neon green relish, chopped onion, a pickle spear, sport peppers, and a dash of celery salt.
For the love of hot dogs, you’re going to want to get your Walmart grocery list started.
To add a unique twist that takes the Chicago hot dog from individual meal to platter-filling appetizer, we’re going to deconstruct it, toss the bun, and pile the ingredients high on a heap of crunchy potato chips. Behold, the Chicago Hot Dog Potato Chip Nachos!
(Hold for applause.)
The great thing about this recipe, other than the obvious greatness of potato chip nachos, is that you can make it outdoors in good weather, or indoors in bad weather. Oscar Mayer hot dogs from Walmart can be prepared on the grill or on the stovetop.
Plus, it all comes together very quickly. So whether you’re entertaining, or just trying to throw together a quick, fun dish to share before you race off to your next summer activity, these Chicago Hot Dog Potato Chip Nachos fit the bill.

Can I substitute different hot dog toppings? No! I mean, yes, of course you can. But if you want the Chicago dog experience, stick to the tried and true.
Can I use tortilla chips? If you really, really want to. But I recommend sticking to potato chips because the flavors balance very well.
