Chipotle Sour Cream Dip

Is it that college basketball time again?  Seems like it was just a few weeks ago when I was whipping up some bacon cheeseburger dip to go with my Cheez-It Crackers game time snack.  How time flies!

Indeed, it is once more that time where we set out our favorite party snacks and settle in to cheer on our favorite college basketball teams.  And if those around you couldn’t name a college team to save their lives, you’ll be glad to know that the provision of a wide array of snacks will overcome anyone’s objection to enjoying the game.

Cheez-It Crackers are the perfect game day snack.  If you like spicy stuff, you’re going to love Cheez-It Hot & Spicy Grooves and Cheez-It Sriracha Snack Mix.  You can taste the difference that real cheese makes!

If you like to temper your spicy with coolness, you’ll love this recipe for Chipotle Sour Cream Dip.  It makes a great accompaniment to all your favorite dippable snacks.

I picked up my Cheez-Its at Target, which is a great place to stock up on all your game day party supplies.

Cheez-its at Target

Large boxes of Cheez-Its are just 3 for $8 through April 1st, and can be found in the grocery section and/or by the checkout lanes.

Tips for Making Chipotle Sour Cream Dip

  • I always use regular sour cream, but if you prefer to use reduced-fat or fat-free sour cream, you can use them instead.
  • Cilantro is a love/hate herb.  Some love it, some hate it.  I love it and will garnish any vaguely Mexican cuisine with handfuls of the stuff.  Feel free to leave it out if you are not a cilantro-lover.
  • If you are having trouble finding canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce at your regular grocery store, double check the Hispanic section (if you have one), or seek out a Hispanic grocery store.  It’s a magical ingredient and truly worth seeking out.
  • Use this dip for topping tasty Mexican burgers!

Oh my word! This dip looks delish and looks so easy. I haven’t tried the new Cheez-It Grooves, but we love all things Sriracha so I’ll have to add them to the grocery list this week. They are on sale at my local grocery store too!

I love to make dips for our get togethers with families and friends! This sounds like a great flavor for a dip. I had no idea that Cheeze It makes snack mixes like this now.

I remember when I was a kid and Cheez-Its were just, well, Cheez-Its! Now there’s all kinds of varieties.

That looks like a great tip! I love how those crackers also have a kick to them and the ridges are awesome for dipping and catching the dip!!

It’s a great texture. I’ll tell you that they didn’t last long around here! My husband and I kept grabbing a handful every so often.

I do not like cilantro at all so I guess I fall into the other category. This dip however sounds delicious. I make different dips for special occasions. I’m known for it. “What type of dip will Lee bring” is a typical thought if I’m coming to the party. Sour Cream dips are usually easy and delicious because they are “cool”. Thanks for the Cheez-its recommendation, I’ve never used Cheez-its.

My mom can’t stand cilantro, so I try to be flexible when calling for cilantro so that it’s optional. Not everyone can love it like I do. 🙂

This dip sounds awesome. I love sitting down of an evening to watch a movie with my hubby with a big bag of Domino’s and some dip. Must try this one out.

My sour cream dip repertoire is not as large as it should be! You’ll have to share some dip recipes with me. 🙂
