Ombre Fanta Halloween Punch

Ombre Fanta Halloween Punch

One of the best things about Halloween is that we get to play around with beautiful colors.  From table settings, to costumes, to foods and beverages, brilliant orange hues find their way into everything.

I’m doing my part to add to the influx of color with today’s sparkling Fanta punch.  Rather than have clear ice cubes with colored soda, I’ve reversed the classic combination to include clear seltzer with bright orange Fanta ice cubes.

As the ice cubes melt slightly into the clear seltzer, the color settles to create a subtle ombre effect in the glass.  That’s why I’m serving this Halloween punch in transparent glasses.

In addition to a colorful punch, I’ve dipped into a box of Nabisco Spooky Edition Fun Snacks Mix (30 count) to turn plain vanilla ice cream into cookies ‘n’ cream.

Ice Cream and OREOS

Grab a box like this one, plus some Fanta for punch, and you’ve got the quick and easy makings of a Halloween party!

I picked up my supplies at Walmart.  The Fanta can be found on the soda aisle, and the snacks can be found in the special Halloween section that includes trick-or-treat candies and costumes.

Not only can you mix some mini OREOS into your ice cream, but you can use those little treat bags for afterschool snacks or trick-or-treating.  Why not make the fun last all month long?

  • Orange Fanta soda
  • Clear orange-flavored seltzer other clear fruit flavors may be used

  1. Fill ice cube trays with Fanta. You will need about 6 cubes for each glass.
  2. Freeze the trays overnight, or until ice cubes are frozen solid. Place the clear seltzer in the refrigerator to chill completely.
  3. When ready to serve, place the Fanta ice cubes in each glass. Top with clear seltzer until the glass is full. Serve immediately for the most bubbles, or let sit for a minute to allow the bubbles to settle and the ombre effect to appear.
