What is Recipe for Perfection?
Recipe for Perfection is a food blog run by me, Katie Moseman—your resident kitchen mastermind! Here at Recipe for Perfection, I specialize in:
- Tested & proven recipes
- Handy tips & tricks to save time and get it right the first time
Look around, and you’ll notice that most of my recipes have short ingredient lists and streamlined instructions. That’s because I value your time and don’t want you to spend all day slaving away in the kitchen! Come to Recipe for Perfection to find easy recipes that work.
How did Recipe for Perfection get started?
Recipe for Perfection started out in August 2014 as a food blog in search of the perfect brownie. In fact, the entire blog was titled “The Perfect Brownie” until January 2015, when I realized that a blog solely about brownies might be a little bit limiting in the long run.
It took a lot of thinking to come up with a new name. I chose “Recipe for Perfection” because it fit with my original idea to find a perfect recipe. Instead of searching solely for the perfect brownie, I decided to search for perfect moments of all kinds, whether they come from a recipe, a local restaurant, a vacation, or a behind-the-scenes look at a high volume pastry kitchen. (I did find the perfect brownie recipe, by the way.)
It all comes back to the food in one way or another.
“Seize the moment. Remember all those women on the ‘Titanic’ who waved off the dessert cart.”
– Erma Bombeck
Who is Katie Moseman?
Born and raised here in Florida, I’m located demographically on the border between Generation X and Millennial. I’m tech savvy, but I’m old enough to have gone through high school without a cell phone of any kind.
I’m married with two children, and although I adore my family, you won’t see them pictured on the blog because I like to protect their privacy.
However, I must brag that both of my girls create charming artwork. Here’s the logo my eldest designed for my blog.
Back in college, I worked at Walt Disney World, entertaining guests with over-the-top spiels on the Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education, I worked as a teacher for 2 years and a school library media specialist for 4 years. I had wanted to be a librarian since I was a kid, so that was definitely a dream fulfilled. Plus, knowing how to give an over-the-top spiel came in handy.
After the birth of my eldest daughter, I became a stay-at-home mom. (“Stay-at-home”? Sounds like I never left the house. Could someone please come up with a better term?) After the birth of my youngest daughter, I decided to start a food blog to use my writing and technology skills to create a paid job for myself.
The food blog took off after about a year, and I started another project to help local businesses with social media marketing. Then I bought a second blog because I’m a glutton for punishment. I run all my businesses from home while continuing the work that goes along with being a stay-at-home parent.
You could say that I wear a lot of hats: writer, photographer, IT troubleshooter, social media manager, and official brownie taster.
Did I mention book author? Yup, that too. Go buy ten copies of I Hate Vegetables: Fresh and Easy Recipes That Will Change Your Mind, plus ten copies of Fixin’ to Eat: Southern Cooking for the Southern at Heart, and I’ll be able to buy a lot more cappuccinos than usual this week. Thanks!
