Adapting to dietary restrictions can be a real puzzle.  Whether you have a food intolerance or you’re moving away from dairy for other reasons, it’s a challenge to replicate your favorite classic recipes in a way that meets your newfound dietary needs.

The good news is that you can enjoy classic flavors (and showcase your creative side) with plant-based food and beverages from Walmart.

Silk Vanilla Almond milk

I was positively shocked by how many quality products I found at Walmart that met my dietary needs, like the convenient dairy-free alternative Silk® Almondmilk Dark Chocolate Coconut Yogurt Alternative and Silk® Original Almondmilk that I use in this S’mores Banana Smoothie Bowl to add great flavor and nutrition to a delicious dairy free and gluten free recipe.  It was easy to find everything I needed.

Silk Almondmilk Yogurt

This banana smoothie bowl is equally suitable for breakfast, as an afternoon snack, or when you’re parked on the couch at night catching up on your favorite show.  The Silk Almondmilk Dark Chocolate Coconut Yogurt Alternative adds rich and decadent flavor to the smoothie base.

Sliced bananas in smoothie bowl

By lavishing sliced bananas, crumbled graham crackers, toasted marshmallows, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup on top of a hearty smoothie base, you get a bowl that’s both fun and satisfying.

Being dairy free or gluten free doesn’t mean you have to feel deprived of deliciousness!

Ingredients

Smoothie Base

  • 2/3 cup Silk Almondmilk Dark Chocolate Coconut Yogurt Alternative
  • 1/4 cup Silk Original Almondmilk
  • 1/2 cup sliced frozen banana

Toppings

  • 1/2 fresh banana sliced
  • 1 tablespoon graham cracker crumbs gluten free
  • 2 tablespoons mini marshmallows
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup

Instructions

  1. Combine the Silk Almondmilk Dark Chocolate Coconut Yogurt Alternative, Silk Original Almondmilk, and sliced frozen banana in a blender and blend until smooth.  (Add more Silk Original Almondmilk a tablespoon at a time if it's too thick to blend.)

  2. Scrape the smoothie into a bowl.  Top with sliced fresh banana, graham cracker crumbs, mini marshmallows, and chocolate syrup, then serve immediately.

Recipe Notes

If you would like toasted marshmallows, place the mini marshmallows on a broiler safe pan and place under the broiler on high for 60 seconds (until golden brown), then let cool slightly and add them to the smoothie bowl.

I’ve been advised to give up gluten and dairy to improve my health and reduce inflammation. This will make the transition so much more enjoyable.
